Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)

Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is an innovative and non-invasive therapeutic approach that utilizes low-level electrical currents to address a wide range of health conditions. Developed by Dr. Carolyn McMakin in the late 1990s, FSM has gained recognition for its effectiveness in pain management, tissue repair, and various medical applications.

Key Principles

1. Electrical Frequencies: At the core of FSM lies the concept that different tissues and conditions in the body resonate at specific electrical frequencies. By applying microcurrent electrical stimulation at precise frequencies, it is believed that the body can be encouraged to heal itself more effectively.

2. Subtle and Safe Currents: FSM employs extremely low-level electrical currents, typically in the range of microamperes, which are similar to the body's natural electrical signals. This makes FSM non-invasive and generally safe with minimal risk of side effects.

What can I expect?

Prior to your treatment please drink at least 12oz of water. When you arrive, we'll place two damp towels on specific areas of your body, depending on the conditions we're addressing. These towels act as markers for the electrical currents to flow between. We will then attach clips from the FSM machine, and let the electrical currents begin to flow.

During treatment, you may feel a slight tingling or warmth, but don't worry. Most people find the treatment to be quite comfortable and painless. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities throughout the process.

Potential Benefits

1. Pain Mitigation: FSM can be an effective therapeutic modality in decreasing both acute and chronic pain, inclusive of musculoskeletal, neuropathic, and fibromyalgic manifestations.

2. Tissue Regeneration: FSM contributes to the augmentation of tissue repair and restitution, rendering it particularly advantageous in the realms of sports medicine and post-injury rehabilitation.

3. Decreased inflammation: FSM has been shown to decrease inflammatory markers, representing improvement in tissue inflammation.

4. Diverse clinical scenarios: FSM's potential is also under exploration for diverse pathologies including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), allergic disorders, and select autoimmune conditions.

5. Promotes and accelerates healing: Animal models show improvements in tissue regeneration, increased cell energy levels, and improved cellular functions.

Conditions That May Benefit From FSM

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Myofascial pain

  • Migraine Headaches

  • Post-herpetic Neuralgia

  • PTSD

Considerations:

While FSM treatments continue to show considerable promise, it is still an area of research scientists are studying. Therefore, it is difficult to promise particular results. The electrical currents used in FSM are low-level and mimic the body's natural bioelectric signals, this makes the therapy well-tolerated by most individuals with minimal risk of adverse effects. However, as with any medical treatment, there may be contraindications or specific situations where FSM is not advisable such as during pregnancy, for individuals with implanted pumps (insulin, spinal pumps, etc.) or pacemakers, and for individuals currently experiencing acute infection.

It is essential to consult with a trained healthcare provider experienced in FSM to determine if the therapy is suitable for your particular condition and medical history.
